Frocktails is tomorrow night! We are sold out, BUT if there is a last minute ticket to be traded, it will go up on Instagram. My apologies to those not on Instagram, but it has the most visibility for our attendees and sponsors at this time, and I did promise I wouldn’t ever spam you with email. You can always email me directly beckyjopdx at iCloud dot com. I will be posting on Instagram throughout the year more events, events from our sponsors and such, so if you just open an account for that, it might be worth it?

Portland Frocktails Sponsor Highlight: SBCC Patterns! 10 lucky attendees will get a voucher for a @sbccpatterns of their choice! 🧵 Insider secret: Betsy of SBCC is one of the few pattern graders that is an expert in full size range options. You may not know it, but it’s likely you’ve already worn something Betsy made. No joke. She also makes full RTW tech packs. What does this mean? It was a huge personal boon to get these vouchers for you. The SBCC Rickey tutorial that is FREE on the SBCC site is gold. I wish it existed before I made my first suit jacket. The money on classes I could have saved 🤣 🧵 THANK YOU @sbccpatterns #portlandfrocktails #pdxsews #seattlesews #CascadiaMakers #indiepatterns #Imakemyownclothes #PartyLikeASewist #frocktails

Portland Frocktails Sponsor Highlight: Seamwork! 🧵 We are SO fortunate to have many talented makers, designers, & creatives in the PNW, and I feel lucky when they take the time & money to give to our little passion project! 🧵 Seamwork is providing 1 door prize of an ENTIRE YEAR of Seamwork!!! Seriously. The community, the magazine, the hacks, and now the membership is open to download ALL THE PATTERNS. ALL. When/how/what you like. Free. For a year. 🥳 But wait. That’s not all. Some attendees will get patterns in their swag bags. 🧵 AND Seamwork bought us fancy comfy lanyards for our name tags this year!! SQUEE! Thank you @seamworkmag for being just so dang awesome. 💗 #portlandfrocktails #pdxsews #portlandknitters #SeattleSews #PartyLikeASewist #portlandsews #indiepatterns #frocktails

Seamwork really came through this year with a lot of great stuff: door prize of 1 full year of Seamwork, first 30 people through the door get high quality Seamwork bags with Colette Patterns, AND we have the most lux Seamwork lanyards on our name tags.

Pipe Dream Patterns are a personal favorite of mine. Based on a C/D cup block, it’s so nice to not have to put as much effort into an FBA, and she’s got a special talent for coat designs. I will be wearing one of her patterns to the event this year.

Wiksten Patterns. What can I say? When I think of Jenny’s work, I think of things like Charles and Ray Eames, or the perfect 3-chord song. It seems like it’s simple, but making something timeless and elegant out of simple takes real talent.

If you know me personally, it’s no secret I’m a huge fan of Queen Bee Creations quality products. We have an array of lovely door prizes generously donated.

The last 4 Sponsor Highlights are our strongest supporters. They are the first to jump in and champion our beautiful PNW sewing community. 🧵 What can I say about Karleen of @pdxsewingstudio? She’s got the most amazing store, her pattern & fabric matches are impeccable (showcased here), I’ve been to her physical location and it is just heaven, and can we just have a quiet moment of appreciation for her Manic Monday & weekly sales? 🥰 🧵 The Sewing Studio has generously gifted towards catering AND we will have 3 door prizes curated by Karleen herself. 🎉🎉🎉 🧵 #portlandfrocktails #portlandknitters #pdxsews #PartyLikeASewist #SeattleSews #frocktails

Without Karleen of the Sewing Studio, and the next 3 sponsors, to be honest, our Portland Frocktails just wouldn’t be the same. I’ll tell you a secret about Karleen: not only does she have impeccable taste, she has the best sense of humor. I highly recommend making sure you get time to talk to her.

Portland Frocktails Sponsor Highlight today is The Seam Divas Sewing Lounge & owner/teacher/rock singer Ms Helen. Helen is a phenomenal sewing instructor, teaching both in her own studio in Vancouver, but also at local shops around Portland. She is a certified @palmerpletsch fitting instructor, one of THE BEST jeans & pants instructors, and one of the most amiable people you’ll ever meet. 🧵 Helen @seamdiva provides us with those amazing high top tables AND will be giving us 2 gift certificates for classes as door prizes! Been wanted to make pants, but crotch curves & zip flies are scary? Want the perfectly fitted silk dress of your dreams? This is the person to talk to & the chance to win it! Thank you Helen! 🧵 #pdxsews #portlandfrocktails #portlandknitters #SeattleSews #PartyLikeASewist #dontforgetGreg #Frocktails

Helen has skillz for dayz. Helen is one of those people you could just sit and listen to for hours and still not get every tip and trick she knows.

Portland Frocktails Sponsor Highlight: Josephine’s! Josephine’s and Clutch provides us with an amazing space and photography. Bini is an amazingly generous human with the biggest heart, and I for one am so grateful for a world with her in it. Thank you Justin for letting us play in your space! YOU get pro photos after the event to use as you please (give me a week or so to get them up 🤣) 🧵 Josephine’s has a beautifully curated fabric and handmade button selection, in addition to top-notch classes in the studio (did you SEE the @lladybird workshop photos?!?) AND right now (scroll right) @josephinesdrygoods is having one of their quarterly sales with 20% off everything (HELLO @libertylondon!) 🧵 THANK YOU J&B 🤗 #portlandfrocktails #pdxsews #portlandknitters #PartyLikeASewist #SeattleSews #IheartBiniClub

Bini of Josephine’s Dry Goods and her dearest Justin donate the space and photography. That is HUGE. It sets the tone for our entire event. I’m an experienced event planner and I know most of the event spaces in Portland… no one does anything quite like our event. It is truly special and I am forever grateful.

We’ve had a few more special treats added on as well, such as a door prize pattern bundle from Sewhouse7 (another one of my personal favorites.)  We will have a pattern swap table, a couple hands-on crafts tables, and plenty of photography prompts to get you moving around the room and get your sewcializing ON! See you very soon!

Love,

B
